That's my point. While I've never dated a co-worker, I do have a friend who almost lost his job on account of an office fling which turned into a nightmare. One of those quasi Fatal Attraction things.

Also, I once worked at a small firm in which the founder/owner ended up having a very overt affair with a 20-something year old receptionist! It made for a very tense and uncomfortable atmosphere. Although it did not affect his marriage, it transformed the workplace into a miniature circus with employees feeling offended each time they were observed being affectionate towards each other.

i think in most cases office romances should be avoided. i actually "bid out" of the building my wife and i worked together in. we still work at the same place but i'm a half a mile across plantsite. plus having lunch together everyday and taking break together everyday came becomes a little much...
