Honestly! WTF is up with that? MY sister told me that her son (same age as mine - 18) shaved his nether region bare. She was surprised that my son and I both found that to be ridiculous. She said "You are so out of it - all the kids do it!". Personally I think it's the teenie-bopper girls that don't know what it is to have a guy with body hair...so the teenie-bopper dudes don't know any better than to shave it off. Ridonkulous.
Nowadays a lot - and I mean a lot if not most - actors in porn shave their public hair completely off. Mostly in heterosexual porn, not gay porn.
I don't like it. I find it disturbing. If the fellow is already young - say in his late teens or early twenties - it looks like he is boy who hasn't reached puberty yet; almost like looking at kiddie porn. Yuck.
Women getting 'bikini wax' I can understand. Body hair is a masculine thing; it is unfeminine for a woman to have a moustache or underarm hair or hairy arms or legs.

It's all about the money shot - anything that gets in the way of that is eliminated. Heck, they even hold their camera-side arm behind them so as not to miss any action shots. No hair down there makes the package appear larger.
I agree though that it creeps me out sometimes - like watching a slug do the dirty.

Depends upon the culture - in Italy and Spain (among other places) there are plenty of hair-lovers. I think in our society it might be the advertisement-fueled trend toward younger and younger models that leads to a perception of hairless being feminine and desirable.
