I hadn't realized it until today after I made a google search, that in some states insane or mentally challenged people can't marry.
Is it taking advantage of someone for a sane person to marry an insane person?
In this example, the person has auditory hallucinations (hearing music, noises and speech that's not there), cognitive issues from early dementia, short term memory loss and depression/bipolar.
Not certain if it is the case of the sane taking advantage as much as it goes back to eugenics. The laws were to prevent breeding of more insane people. There were many of these type of prohibitions that were made into law such as marrying a close relative (sister/brother) because the offspring from such ended up being a burden on Society. Many were removed through the years as people began to realize that they were discriminatory and based on fuzzy thinking.
The history of efforts to improve the human race is interesting and filled with some really nasty things.
I recently read that Britney Spears can't legally marry right now. If there is any truth to this story, I am wondering if it's because of insanity (on here part)?
Marriage is a wonderful institution, but who would want to live in an institution?
