Shel Silverstein is that guy who wrote " Where the sidewalk ends". A children's book. And if I am not mistaken, he also wrote that book with the little boy who loved the tree and the tree loved the little boy.
Shel's first famous book was 'Where the Sidewalk Ends." But his books were far more sophisticated for your average children's book. I also have one of his rare books called "THE BIG O." He also wrote with Bob Dylan. He was extremely multi-talented in all the arts and a very prolific writer, screenwriter, song writer, poet and story teller. Quite the minimalists as well.
This is a link to some of his music, but you should just do a bio search on him to get a feel for all his work then you'll see why I made the comparison. Do a google Image search of his name to see more of his bizarre drawing style.
