Amen, I like nerds! As long as they don't play video games all day. I love nerds!

Because its pretty much put into all teen males heads (via movies and TV) that the jocks/muscular guys get the girls. We always hear "I want a real man" and to a lot of us that means pumping iron, hauling logs, working on cars, welding, etc..stuff that doesnt interest us in the least bit. Therefore we dont perceive ourselves as the "real men" you girls want. That and every time i walked down the hallway in HS and saw a girl i liked she was usually arm in arm with a muscular guy.

I'll agree with the last few people that said "popular culture". it's not that nerds can't get any ladies, it that they're portayed as being really wierd or really nerdy and unable to socialize. after years of watching that crap and then finally getting to high scho or college yourself, would you even bother trying?

thankfully I think people are either becoming more accepting of nerds and geeks, or the nerds and geeks of today are far less so than their counterparts.

I like brainy men if they don't lord it over me whenever possible, and if they don't assume that they know everything.

My ex-bf was a nerd. But then again, so am I in some ways. I'm into anime, manga (Japanese comics), and certain video games.

Nerdy and brainy are two totally different and separate things. There are nerds who are NOT brainy and there are brainy people who are FAR from being nerds. Most women wouldnt dare date or be seen with a nerdy guy, but they all want to marry brainy guys. Brainy = money.

I do love brainy men. Nerds...not so much.
My experience indicates that "brainy" is seldom recognized as such, if the guy isn't also good looking. Then, everything he says impresses women.

However, if an average man is able to get a reputation in the wider world, that tags him as brainy, hot women will usually seek him out. I somehow doubt that the brainy aspect of him was the prime reason.

Nerds are often brainy guys without the looks that women consider necessary to be considered brainy. However, some are just into their own little world that interests them - things that women find boring.

Its that they believe they can't get the woman they want, that every man wants.
