Oh, I know of at least one lady who made the first move on a dating website.
The move she made was toward me. Because, somehow, when we were on the same site, I kept coming up in her prospective matches but she never came up in mine, for some unknown reason.
Yep, she made the first move.
Three years later, we're still together, more deeply in love, and have a wonderful life together.
Seriously, though, many times I (a female) have made the first move on dating sites. Some men have told me they very much appreciate it when a lady makes the first move.

I've had friends (and a few C-D folks) look at my profile and have been told there's nothing wrong with it. So I'm being passive now and waiting for guys to write to me first.

A close female friend of mine is currently dating a guy whom she met on a dating website, and she told me it was her who made the first move. She took a look at his profile and she liked what she saw (the picture wasn't the deciding factor though, because she says he's physically average -and neither did his money matter, because she's been in relationships with guys who earned a lot less than she does, her being about to inherit a small but profitable business that she's already managing and all-).
