Any success stories: your own or that you know about?

Broke up with that love of your life and then forces brought you back together after a long time...

Or is that just Hollywood

I married my first love after we split for about 2 and a half years. That's not to say we married immediately after getting back together, btw, I just read that back and thought it may sound like that, lol - after we got back in touch, it was another 2 years before we married. And yes, we're still married, just celebrated our 5th anniversary.

One of my uncles remarried his ex-wife!

I met my wife at the county fair in 1993, we lived together 2 years. Work was scarce and she was not interested in marriage, for me work was 400 miles away. We kept in contact and hooked up once a year or so.
In 2000 she gave me a call, she was moving to Hawaii and wanted to know if I wanted a visit. After a weekend I convinced her to move in with me. We married a couple months later. Today we are packing up to move together back to Yosemite.

So far, a few really nice stories
Reminds me of that saying, Love isn't about who you live with, it's about who you can't live without

Many years ago, I babysat for 3 little boys. Their elderly grandmother lived with them, but the parents didn't think she could handle the 3 boys, so I came over to stay with all of them. One time when I was there she told me about the love of her life.

She had been engaged to marry her high school sweetheart when World War II broke out. He went to war and became missing in action. After a long time, she was assured he probably had died. She was heart broken, but married another man before her HS boyfriend was freed and the war was over. He also was heart broken, but married somebody else. Each went on with their lives, moved away from their hometown of Richmond, VA, and had kids. Many years later, each of their spouses died and they each independently (no contact with each other) moved back to the Richmond area. During one high school reunion shortly after they both returned to Richmond, they found each other again. Love was rekindled and they got married. He died 3-4 years later, but she told me it was a truly wonderful time she had with him. She had photos of their HS romance and photos of their late in life marriage. Love prevails!
