I'm not in a couple, but NO to having a TV in the bedroom. And you people Who like to fall asleep when it is on - do you really feel comfortable with listening to advertising messages when you are mentally at your most vulnerable? Don't you think those late night tv commercials are designed to manipulate people who are falling asleep? I think it is straight up crazy to sleep with a tv on. A few times a year I fall asleep on my couch in front of the tv, usually on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Let me tell you, it does affect the way you dream. I see it that clearly, since I don't do it often.

You had just quoted my husband exactly. How did you know?

I think I'll go sans.... at least at first. I DO sleep very well at his house.
Oh I understand.

Before my son was born, I needed TV in the bedroom to fall asleep. My husband would work really late hours and I was and still am afraid of the dark. TV was like a background noise after awhile to occupy my brain. When my son was born, my brain was no longer busy checking out every noise in the darkness of my home and I stopped watching TV to fall asleep, therefore when we moved to Florida, we decided to keep it out of our bedroom.

Yes, I've had a tv in my bedroom for most of my life -- the past 35 years at least. Right now it's a 45" one. I've always watched the morning news on it, and for the past 20 years watched it in the evening a little too. Since my (now) wife moved in 12 years ago, it stays on all night long. She snores, and the noise from the tv helps mask it. We also spend quite a bit of time in the bedroom on our days off, just lying in bed watching a couple movies.

I'm not saying it's the best thing to do, just answering your question.

I was always totally against having a TV in the bedroom. We have one now because he has always wanted one and so when he had his vasectomy it was his "recovery" gift.

With that said, we RARELY watch it. Usually the only time it's on is on Sundays when the kids are taking showers and getting ready for bed. My husband will flick on the football game.

We never lay in bed and watch TV.

Never had a TV in the bedroom and never would. You couldn't pay me to put one in there, even though it would never be turned on, for the exact reasons previous posters have mentioned.

We have one in there for video games and movies. We don't always have it on so it's easier to go to sleep.
