Ladies, how would you react to a guy you don't even know smiling at you when walking past you or in the elevator or in line at a store, etc? Would it put you in a good mood or sorta creep you out? Guess it depends on the guy...

I know this is probably a weird thread, but whenever I get a smile from a woman - any woman - it usually makes my day. Was wondering if women felt the same way .

If a man over 75 smiles at me I think it's cute,
If a man between 45-75 smiles at me I really think he's perverted..he may be just trying to be nice but I dont like it...
If a man around 40 and under smiles at me even if he is ugly or nice looking it doesn't bother me...

I've done this before and all the women I smile at randomly return it.

They must want me pretty bad.

I like it. And I love to smile and laugh.

Are you talking about a real genuine smile or the usual artificial acknowledgment grin?

I don't think they want anyone. They are just friendly. The same as they would respond to any other casual form of greeting. Loosen up! <- here you go!

Location, context and demeanor are key here.

I live in a small town in the Midwest. I tend to smile at almost everyone I encounter while walking downtown. Outside of the immediate downtown, I also will often verbalize a "good afternoon" and nod hello. People are pretty open and friendly here.

I know not to do this in large cities though, and have to censor myself .

I'm female.

As a male, you must also consider demeanor, There is a HUGE difference between a smile and a leer.

I think, when men want to greet or smile at women in public, they should pretend that every woman is their grandmother . That should help. Treat every woman as you would want men on the street to treat your grandmother. How hard is that???
