Is your spouse/partner your very best friend? Nowadays, my best friend and my spouse are 2 different people. In fact, I'd probably go insane if it were not for her calming down sometimes after my spouse upsets me.

She sounds like she was a wonderful person. My condolences to you on her passing.

My partners usually have the same interests as I do and similar goals and thinking, otherwise I would not fall in love. We spend our free time on hobbies we have in common. So yes, partner is my best friend also. But I have female friends also.

Generally, I wish my partners were more lovers than best friends.

She was. I had never fallen for a woman before until her and I truly believed she was the one. Life can be unfair.

Sorry for your loss bro. I don't think in most cases your spouse can be your best friend because of the emotions factor. A best friend not romantically involved with can be more objective in my opinion.

Sure. I couldn't personally imagine living with someone who wasn't.

Yes it can and your loss, for which I sympathize, is proof of that. Clearly, however, you had a great many good and memorable years for which I'm sure you're rightfully very thankful. I wish you well.

My wife was a friend for five years before I ever asked her out. She remains my best friend and always will be. There's something truly special about marrying your friend. In truth, I have a very close, female friend whom I love and value but would never have a further relationship with much less marry. She a very loyal and loving friend in return but that's where it ends for both of us.
