BROOKFIELD, Wis., Feb. 7 (UPI) -- A Wisconsin couple celebrating their 80th wedding anniversary agree the secret to their long marriage is that the husband "knows who's boss."

Roy Fleming, 100, and Dorothy Fleming, 95, marked their 80th anniversary Monday with a party in Brookfield, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Tuesday.

DRGirl...Your "Marriage, what's the point" comment was totally uncalled for. This story is about my grandparents and my family and I are very proud that they have been together for all these years. You might think being married is pointless and you are entitled to your opinion but why criticize and demean their marriage and their achievement with your negativity?? If more husbands had my grandfather's mentality of being a gentleman by giving in to their wife's needs and compromising, there might be more people who had marriages that lasted!

Sharf, I think you may have misunderstood DRGirl's comment. There are a lot of people who create threads with negative comments about marriage. I think she meant to post this thread there to show or prove to them that marriage is not pointless. I don't think she meant any harm-she did say it is impressive. My parents are married 54 years so I know that long lasting marriages are something to be very proud of
