Very interesting and weird thing happened to me while jogging today. A black Honda Fit pulls up to the curb next to the sidewalk where I was jogging. I figure it's a guy asking for directions, instead it's a small Mexican dude who tells me, "I'm beautiful". I look stunned and asked him to repeat what he said because I couldn't believe what I just heard. Again, he said in a Mexican accent, "you beautiful mane".....and then he signals me to get in the car with him. At this point, I'm weirded out and bolt out of there but this guy makes a u-turn to follow me and tried to get my number. It felt like what a gal goes through in their daily life. It was flattering, yet weird and a bit scary all at the same time. Even though the guy looked harmless, and was so small I could open up a can on him had he tried anything, it was still a crazy experience.

Point is, this isn't the first time a gay guy has "hit" on me. What I'm curious about is if gay men have the same tastes as women and are a good indicator of where a guy stands in the looks department, since women are more tight lipped?

Weird question, I know but can straight guys take gay guys compliments?

A real confident man would say "thanks" and let it go unless he was interested.

A Redneck might get all weirded out.

I wasn't weirded out because I am homophonic redneck. That's just never happened to me before and I was weirded out because it was so unexpected. I did say thanks for the compliment, I'm flattered but no thanks and went on my way.

You're right that a redneck would get weirded out because the guy was gay.

Yeah I wouldn't be weirded out just because he was gay. I would be weirded out because he tried to follow me and get my number.

Quick rule of thumb: if something is inappropriate for a guy to do to a girl, it's probably inappropriate for a guy to do to another guy.

Making fun of rednecks and yet you made this ridiculous thread? Should straight men...? What else are they supposed to do? It's a COMPLIMENT.

Sure, why not? A compliment is a compliment.

You could have just told him that you aren't gay, but thanks. Instead of running away.
