My eight year old is a girl. Sexy? No.

I don't mind being called a boy, even tho I'm 49 years old. I was a boy once, a young one, and I still am a kid in some ways and proud of it. But if it's meant to be a put-down, that's different. Context, and the source of the comment, make the difference in my opinion.

I have learned from this chat to make sure to not be careless. The reason I asked this in the first place is because I want to make sure to treat everyone with respect as much as I can.

I can't predict or control how everyone takes what I say. I try to learn every day.

I don't understand it. I never mean it in a derogatory way, and by the way, I almost always say "women". If women call men "boys", I'm not offended at all. Is it just women with issues who get offended by being called "girls", or is it something a lot of women don't like?
I think the real value of that video is that it lets you know there are people in the world who do nothing all day but sit around waiting for reasons to get pissed off.

The fact that a company has to take the time, expense, and employee productivity time to compose, produce, and show a video about not calling women "girls" is absolutely absurb, ridiculous, obnoxious...and if I could think of more words at this late hour I'd throw them in. Goodness gracious, if someone gets their nose out of joint about being called a girl vs...woman, lady, ma'am...and that's their biggest problem in their life, than they should count their blessings and find something else to b-tch about. Some people take themselves WAY to seriously.

Crap, I might be an idiot then. What is the difference?

I'm at an awkward stage where the girls around me are too young to be "ladies" and too old to be "girls".

I'd assume ladies are like 28+ and girls are like under 16.

There's a huge 12 year gap where I have no idea what the fairer sex are.

I worked with someone like that. She took umbrage at even the most inoffensive remarks. Every conversation was like tiptoeing on eggshells. When they finally fired her, everybody went out for a drink to celebrate.

Depends on the context. My mother and her friends, all in their 50s and up, gather for what they call Girls' Night Out, but I can't imagine a waiter coming up to them and asking "What would you girls like to drink?"
