Well, I rarely ever get or have got 'hit on' - although one time I had two girls straight-up proposition me while at a stop light. Go figure! And they were not ugly.
It depends on what you see as being hit on. A guy could say he gets hit on all the time but in fact he is NOT and a girl can thinks she never gets hit on when actually most guys who approach her are hitting on her but she doesn't see it. This is a question that is highly related to one's ability to notice things around himself/herself.
I personally know that most girls don't hit on guys very often and this can be frustrating. I learned in my life that even the girl who look you down and never talked to you is maybe very interested in you but she won't show it, because thats just how a lot of females are. They keep it to themself and for them, it is a kind of weakness and its a way of being vulnerable to hit on a guy.
So yeah, I would say this : As a (relatively speaking) good looking guy I do get hit on. But not so often. Maybe once a week. Maybe once a month. Now I am talking about getting hitting on in a VERY direct manner. If we are talking about girls who are hitting on me in a distant and non obvious manner it might be higher. I don't know.
I pretty much don't pay any attention or ignore the signals women throw around all together.. I've got better things to do then chase you like some predicable Disney fairy tale.

It depends on your definition of being hit on. When I go out to bars/clubs, I'll have a random attractive girl come up to me at least once a night. They don't usually say "you're hot" (although it has happened), but they clearly are hitting on me.
