I was wondering has anyone ever gave you a false pic from the internet. Have they sent it to you and pretend to be this person?

If you are wondering it is a series on Mtv with a man named Nev and his brother doing a kind of meeting of the two internet parties. They film it and get the reactions of each person. They also do some back ground check if the internet person is truly who they say they are.

The only way they know the real person is to meet. I also think a real person can give you multible pics of themselves. This day and age we all have cell phones with cameras or friends that take pics of us.

So again I ask have you ever got a pic or sent a pic of someone that is not them?

Do you have any stories that you wish to share?

No, but I don't do internet dating. If I was to start, I would prefer Skype or Oovoo right after receiving the picture. I'm aware that people like to send pics from 10 years ago rather than how they currently look, but with ME they would be in for a rude awakening if I saw that I was deceived.

With video chatting you can SEE the person and HEAR their voice which is very important to ME.

The days of just living off internet pics, text, emails and phone alone is very obsolete in my opinion and an extreme waste of time.

But I have a friend that's with two online dating sites (Match and POF), he said he used to be disappointed when he would meet the women and they were not size or age they were in their pics.

I have never had a fake pic sent, but I did meet a guy once who sent pics that were so old as to be extremely misleading. Like over 10 years old. I was excited to meet him, so it was quite disappointing and it had to be apparent on my face, because he immediately was all defensive about how he had no time to work out, too busy with work... The thing was, we did have quite a bit in common personally and professionally. He's a witty and accomplished guy with shared interests. I would still have met him even if he had sent the current pics (he probably thought I would not, as I am significantly younger), but the misleading nature of how he sent the pics set things off on a weird and awkward footing.
In that case, because he was from out of town, a few weeks had elapsed since we'd been chatting but before he visited my town. Next time, in a similar situation, I'll ask to Skype. But mostly I prefer to just date local guys that I can meet within a couple weeks. Wait any longer and things can get weird because expectations start to rise.

The show is called Catfish (based on the movie) and there is already a thread about this.
