So.....I have been separated from my wife for a little over 2 years now. She lives in Texas and Im in Louisiana. No contact what so ever, but some of her mishaps and misfortunes are still haunting me....like her bad credit. So tell me what you know about the easiest divorce possible...... specifically, what can I do on my own without her to make this thing happen. She basically she abandoned me and its been over a long period of time, that to account for something right? Let me know....I can probably think about buying a home if I wipe her credit off of my squeaky clean credit behavior.

This is something best addressed by an attorney in your state.

If you have contact with her, have her served with a summons and complaint. It should be straight forward as far property division and debts.

If have no contact or means of contact you can file for divorce in abstentia.

An attorney can best answer your question.

I would go to an attorney and get a free consult. Otherwise, go to your court house and pick up papers that you can file yourself. She will have to be served, and sign those papers. If she won't sign, you'll have to put this in an ad in the local paper where she lives for 3 weeks (might vary), that can get expensive.

What you need to do is really contact a lawyer. But if you want to do some ground work yourself. Which I strongly suggest. You should check what your state's requirements are for a divorce. If you have been separated for 2 years without contact. I believe in most states. You could file a divorce and be done in a month. Especially if she doesn't contest it. If she does. Then you should absolutely hire a lawyer.

But honestly all of of the forms to file for a divorce should be at your local courthouse.

With her bad credit you definitely need to use an attorney. I hope you have a legal separation or you may get her debt.
