Had this discussion a little while back and the question of who's better at keeping numbers concealed and those little secrets best kept hidden. If a woman tells you the number of men she's slept with, you multiply that number by 3.If a man tells you the number of men she's slept with, you multiply that number by 2.What do you think?
Uh... no.If someone I am with decides to reveal their number, I would hope I have chosen someone wisely and can trust what they say. No game playing for me.
I've only been with 1 guy and that's the actual truth. I would hate to think that a guy would think I had been with 3 guys based on a silly calculation formula.
I am not sure why it would even be a topic of discussion unless you were well into a relationship. If your well into a relationship, and still felt insecure about revealing the truth... maybe it says something about the relationship.
I think everyone is different and that a hard fast rule of multiplying won't help figure out any truth. That said, studies have shown men over estimate and women underestimate the number (when they don't keep track of it). I think it's for the reason Caddy said above. For some of us, it's easy to track--especially when you've not had many sex partners. In a completely anonymous survey (where it's assumed it's more truthful that face-to-face), the CDC found the mean average of lifetime sex partners for a man 20-59 years old was 7. For a woman in the same age range, its 4. Average man sleeps with 7 women - Health - Sexual health | NBC News

Wtf, this cannot be right. lol 7 per year sounds more accurate...

Ah, but C-D has taught us that women reserve sex for only the top 10% of men, so that 7 of year for you is averaged out against 0 ever for the next 9 guys.
I have no problem disclosing my number when asked by a partner or in that sort of discussion. I'm never dishonest about such things. No need to be. No dishonesty or shame. *shrug*
