Well OK, I'm platinum blonde. Do men really prefer blondes? That's like saying "men prefer green eyes." I think blonde hair is perhaps the most eye catching but blonde hair alone doesn't necessarily make someone more attractive. I think women look best when they stick with a color that coordinates well with their skin tone, etc. I think girls with naturally dark hair can look equally beautiful.
As far as men..can't say I have a "hair color preference." The guy I've been kind of dating is blonde, but prior to that I was dating a guy who was the epitome of "tall dark and handsome." I find them both equally attractive. The "tall dark and handsome" guy definitely had a thing for blondes too. I think sometimes people like whatever is the opposite of them. It's more "exotic" and "new."
Is it ridiculous that I'm considering checking fetlife about this? They have fetishes there and if you search one up, it will tell you how many users have claimed the thing to be a fetish for them. Which for most, is just all sorts of stuff we find sexy. "Redheads" is a fetish there, I'm sure "blondes" and "brunettes" are, too. So I am wondering how many of that site's users have chosen to declaim their favorites by choosing it as a fetish...? Maybe I'll check that out later and report back.
I think I've heard more guys being enthusiastic about redheads, than blondes. I like what my boyfriend is rocking these days, dark hair with silver at the temples. But I've enjoyed men who had beautiful blonde hair, too. A couple of them had long, straight, silky blonde hair like a river of gold, tiger's eye, a wheatfield in sunshine. I think I found it so lovely because it was healthy, clean and well kept, which is really far more important than the color.
I think when it comes to hair color women are less hung up on a particular color then say men. You hear men say they love blondes, have a “thing” for blondes, or state they want blah blah blonde hair blue eyes, etc whereas you never hear too many women throw in hair color in their preferences. Sure there are some that might love a certain color but there are usually other determining factors into what attracts a woman to man’s appearance.

Meh. It matters to men about as much as it does to women.
You could argue that it's more important to woman. That they have an ideal type in mind. I've never heard a man say he likes his women tall, dark and handsome. The dark part has come to mean his features.
