IAC is the company that owns Match.com, Chemistry.com. Ok Cupid, DateHookup, Tinder, Twoo, Meetic, and PeopleMedia. I'm assuming they also bought Yahoo Personals as that is now Match.
Twoo? I call that domain spelling i.e. Two was obviously taken. Then there's stuff like Apple's .99/lb and Orange's .99/lb which a friend calls 'greengrocer's apostrophe'.

If you look at their logo, the two Os are looped together to make the infinity sign.
What amazes me about a lot of womens' online dating profiles is their sense of entitlement. I mean, if you just read a lot of these profiles without looking at the pics, you'd think most of these women were super models, what with their demands, expectations, and egos.

Fully agreed. I wonder if men's profiles comes across the same?
Lots of the womens profiles make them seem like they're God's gift to the world, and they're life is perfect if they could just find a man with a laundry list of traits that they could plug into their social life.
Thankfully, there are enough that aren't like that too... but is why reading the profile is mandatory.
Will you get OFF that crap, grow up a little. I sure don't work for a damn dating site!
Well, we'll have to agree to disagree there, sock. I firmly believe anyone who's spent any time on DateHookup would never recommend it... which begs the question, who would? The question pretty much answers itself.
I see. Thanks for that info. Variant brought that up, and I had no idea one company was founding all these dating sites. Being the frugal guy that I am, only the free one's are of any interest to me.
Yup, it's pretty much like ClearChannel with radio and Luxottica with sunglasses. It's all the same tactics... the illusion of competition, when in reality, no one's interested in getting rid of the problems with it and improving the user experience. It's especially effective in online dating because while the barrier of entry is low for honest-to-goodness competitors, it's nearly impossible to gain traction without a user base. You get a big enough one with a halfway decent site like OK Cupid and they buy you up.
