Maybe she was trying to attract the attention of another guy and you interfered with this process and she became quite annoyed that you were talking to her.

That is why I think is better to just leave them.alone and not even say hi unless they say hi first.

This is why I don't start conversations with women I don't know. It's best to just leave them alone.
If a guy inappropriately catcalls a girl, then he deserves to get punched by that girl's father or brother or boyfriend, as I'm sure all the males on this forum would punch and defend our daughter, sister or girlfriend in that situation.
There is the black - not saying anything. And the white - inappropriately catcalling. And then there's the grey area, that the 2 posters above should learn - saying friendly appropriate things.
Don't need to be a mute/weirdo, don't need to be a creep/douche bag - find the middle ground.

Or the girl could punch him in the face.
In fact that is part of the problem, there are men who don't feel like they need to respect women, until a man is defending/protecting that woman. If she doesn't have a boyfriend/brother/male good samaritan around, they think she is fair game for the unwanted attention. This is one of the reasons many women fabricate a fake boyfriend to fend off unwanted attention.

This is why I prefer to be an anonymous shadow to women I don't know. I'd rather not be known at all than be known as a creep. I can live with it.
Where is this paradise where 65% of the woman are so drop dead hot that the drooling men just can't contain themselves? Sure isn't any of several places I've lived in the U.S. I'd say it would be stretching it to claim 15% of all women are even worth a second glance, even fewer worthy of a catcall. Maybe there was one hottie walking amongst 6 plain Janes barely a 5 on the 10 scale and they thought it was aimed at them.
You're assuming women have to be hot to be catcalled or harassed. They don't. That's like assuming that rape is a crime of passion. It isn't. It's a show of power. So is harassment, in some forms. Other forms involve creeps who will prey on anyone, especially women who look vulnerable, or timid.
Last year someone posted a study done in England on a similar topic. It was found that over 50% of women transit riders had experienced harassment on transit, in the form of unwanted touching by strangers. The fact that you can't believe such claims underscores the privilege you enjoy in society. Now that you're aware of it, maybe you'll be moved to help do something about the problem.

This is why I don't talk to women I don't know unless they speak to me first. Seems like everything is harassment nowadays. It's easier to stay single. And who hits on women on a transit station anyways?

Why should we? Quite frankly men don't owe you anything. Harassment is such a subjective word. Does it constitute a guy you find unattractive talking to you?
