Why must a lunch on campus require so much planning?

He asked if she'd like to grab lunch. She agreed.

She said she wanted to eat on campus.

I assume because she feels safer there. The OP is a classmate, but she does not know him very well.

This sounds reasonable and not exactly something that involved a lot of planning.

I don't see any excessive planning going on. How else do you meet for lunch? Someone says "let's have lunch"...you say "sure". Do you magically know when and where to meet them for lunch? I'd be impressed if you did!

I'm not in school anymore, but I'd go to lunch with a colleague if asked. I don't really see the issue with it.
