Because it's easier, not at all emotionally taxing and, in the long run, cheaper.
The boundaries are clearly defined, it's a business relationship and unless you're deluded enough to believe she likes you, there are no unrealistic expectations on either side.
Everyone pays for sex in one way or another. If the cost is purely financial, you know what's expected and where you stand.
Prostitute is not the same as GF, Wife, and/or lover.
It cannot replace relationships...

For some, that is precisely the reason why they visit prostitutes. The ol'saying "you pay them to leave". For that time, you are "it".. it is a business transaction designed to completely focus on your fantasy/pleasure with no obligation at the end.
Some guys probably go that route because of the variety. John Smith likes slightly pudgy brunettes with plump thighs and ample cleavage. It's not much different from powerful conquerors in olden times that had harems full of women. Most men want a true partner/wife, but I think the vast majority of men would enjoy having a harem filled with the kind of women to whom they're most attracted. (assuming there were no negative consequences).
Wealthy and/or handsome men probably do it because they want no hassle. A rich guy trusts a true professional working girl more than some sugar baby 'model' on Instagram that just wants to be famous and leech off his fortune. Average Joes probably do it either out of a desire for variety, a desperate attempt to find intimacy or simply to bed a woman that they'd never be able to pull on just their charm and looks alone.
