Listen up girly. There is nothing wrong with "hon."

I always figured a man who calls me that is saying I am like a horse-back riding nomad of whom people should cower in fear! Always made me hold up my head high and roar thinking about the lament of my enemies! Then I realized the word wasn't "Hun" like I though

I wouldn't read too much into it. It's just an endearing term (at least to me, never bothers me... but it can be patronizing to others).

I would not think it was meant in a sexy way if a younger guy was saying it.

To me it reads like they want to use a term of endearment without it coming across as romantic.

Ah, okay, Wmsn4Life and Jillabean... I think it's sorta cute. Like I said, I'm not used to a young person calling me "hon." I know nan's friends and my great uncle called me "hon" because they thought I was a cutie pie.

I call my wife hon all the time. It's short for honey. I do not call any other womenfolk hon...just the wife.

There are parts of the country where it is normal to call someone "Hon" and it doesn't have any implied meanings to it.

I noticed it a lot when I lived in the Maryland area.

It makes me feel weird.

I knew a guy that called me that all the time, I asked him why, he said it was a habit. I'm not really big on pet names or terms of endearment. Maybe I would be if a guy I liked actually called me those things.
