I got coffee this morning with a guy I met on Match. I'd say the conversation went really well since we lost track of time and stayed hours past what we both intended.

He ended the date by saying "You ready to get out of here?" and then said he had to run some errands and pack since he is leaving to go home for the holiday tomorrow.

As we were leaving, he gave me a hug and said he had a really great time. I wasn't really sure what to say so I kind of joked and said "Holler at me later" and smiled at him.

Do people usually set up a next time to hang out after they finish the first date if they had a good time??

I guess I just figured that he would have said something like "We should get together after the holidays".

Don't make yourself crazy overthinking it. There's no "usual" for when and how dates are planned. Some people like to lock it in at the end of the first one, others feel more comfortable checking with their plans and energy levels before setting a date.

If you want to see him again and put your nerves at ease, text or call him and let him know you enjoyed his company and would like to get together for [drink? dinner?] when he's back in town. Maybe he won't want to, but you won't know unless you find out.

You should've kissed him, but everything else sounds good. Send a "hey" text later in the week.

Lol....

I'm not sure it would have been appropriate to kiss him on the first date...

If he didn't say, "See you later, alligator," or, "In a while, crocodile," then he'll contact you next year.

[ask him what he's doing NYE]

Usually, they do, but there's this big holiday coming up, which makes it awkward. So all you can do is wait and see if he calls after the holiday, or if he messages you in the interim.

The big mistake people are making again and again is think to much about things they can't control. We all have a lot of more important troubles to worry about than a first date.

You can never tell, but, I've never had a date where the guy didn't try and set up something at least semi-concrete. Such as "I'm gone until the 17th, wanna have dinner then?"

This is 2014

Remember he might be waiting for your txt/call. If you txt him and he doesnt respond, then again and he doesnt respond,he's not interested.
