The bar mitzvah is far more than "becoming a man," it is the official entry into the adult Jewish community, evinced by knowledge of Torah, etc. It is a man in the religious/ethnic community, at least as the original ceremony existed.
For the OP, no, one grunting act of very quick intercourse doesn't make a boy into a man. It is all of the other things that people refer to. Also, a man makes love, not "hooks up." No simple act makes a boy into a man.
Yes, because in order to become a man you must have had your heart broken at some point. In order to properly have this happen, you must have had sex with the girl before she broke your heart.
So it's kinda more like a stepping stone to manhood.
....IMO, having sexual experiences is critical for a man to be a complete individual. Sorry, but a man's penis isn't only for urinating, it has a important role to play in a male's development. It's not like a tail, it's there for a purpose. I am not saying it makes you a man, but it makes you a complete man. Until you are able to engage someone in a fashion that opens the door to having a sexual relationship, you will always be socially crippled. You will always wonder what it's like to do it, you will always be in the minority of those around you.
BTW, when I am talking about having sex, engaging in a sexual relationship, I do not mean engaging in a transaction, where you spend your paycheck on an escort.
you at least have to get to third base. No plate, no play, you're not a man.
in all seriousness, the answer is no.
