It's cold and yucky out, so I just stayed in. I finally got to see Phantom of the Opera on Broadway this week (now there's a guy who didn't get to celebrate Valentine's Day!), after wanting to get there for years, so I spent a good part of the day listening to the music and watching different versions of the songs on YouTube. Wrote a little bit, paid some bills, took a nap, did some laundry, and I think I'm going to get on the couch and read for most of the rest of the night.
I DO love chocolate, but have to stay away from it to lose some weight and lower my blood sugar, so my Valentine's Day dilemma is this: Will I be able to resist the sales on the candy when I go to CVS tomorrow to pick up some medication from the pharmacy?
If you ever get a chance, go. I think I have wanted to see it since it first came out, but I wasn't in a position for most years in the past few decades to spend money on a play. The shows can be very expensive. Plus, I don't always have someone to do things with like that, although I suppose I could go alone if I really wanted to see something.
I mentioned to a friend that I'd always wanted to see Phantom. She remembered that and spied a deal for $39 (it ended up being $50 by the time the fees were added, but most tickets go for over $100) for a matinee. The seats were in the second mezzanine, so we were high up, but still, you could see everything. This was her third time seeing it, the first two times being more than 20 years ago.
It is wonderful, the music, the story, costumes, scenery, everything.
Hanging out with my grandmother and her dog. I gave my grandma some tulips that I bought her for Valentine's, and I have some tulips that I'll give to my mom also.
I was also planning to go to a Zumba class, go to a store and spend a gift card I received for Christmas, and maybe run some errands. But with all the snow on the ground, the snow that's still falling, and a local travel advisory I decided not to drive around.
I'm working all weekend. I took on extra shifts. One year I volunteered to babysit for all my relatives. I had 9 kids including a set of twins that were 6 months old. WHEW! I am single, but I actually kinda celebrated with an old flame last night. It was oddly refreshing. I got a samsung blue ray dvd player. That was an interesting valentines gift, but I LOVE IT!
