My ex husband and I got in a small fight about how he always gets me the same box of chocolates every year and I don't even like half of them. He said I should be appreciative. I said I was appreciative, but it's a waste if I don't like them, just get me any other box. The next Valentine's Day he got me a Hello Kitty wallet I had been wanting for a long time from Claire's. I collect Hello Kitty stuff. It broke the same day. He took it back to Claire's. They only had one left and that one was broken too. He went to Macy's and got me one that was SO much cuter and more functional and higher quality. He brought it to my work for me. Cutest and most durable wallet I ever had and I got compliments on it all the time. My ex was a really great husband.

Best was this year, without a doubt. Never had a bad one though.

The worst I have ever had was about 10 years ago when I had my wisdom tooth pulled on valentines day. That sucked but I was not really married to a guy that loved and cared about me, so not a huge loss of the day.

My best was probably this one. My longtime best friend and I had a heart to heart talk. Lots of good things were discussed.

Last year was the first (and only) Valentine's Day I've experienced while in a relationship, and it also happened to be the worst. My then girlfriend and I stayed in for the night but we ordered Chinese food and watched a movie. During the movie my chest started to feel tight and I started having trouble breathing. By the end I was growing concerned. Apparently the chicken-fried rice had been cooked in something that still had remnants of fish oil or something in it. I'm VERY allergic to fish, and I didn't have any medicine to stop the reaction. So around 11:30 at night my girlfriend had to bike to the store (neither of us had cars) and buy medicine. I took four pills (normally would take one or two) and spent the night alternating between shivering uncontrollably and feeling like I was going to vomit. That was Friday night, and my reaction was so bad that I missed work on Monday, too.

To top it off, my girlfriend at the time had allowed her friends and family to talk her into the idea that I was going to propose to her on Valentine's Day, so she wasn't exactly thrilled when I gave her only a lighthearted card and some candy.

And really, every other Valentine's Day I've had has been mediocre at best, since I'm always single.

This past Valentine's Day was a pretty good one. I worked second shift and my only worry was whether or not I would be able to leave on time.
