Why is there a competition for who has it the worst? I would think that people would rather figure out how to get what they want out of life than try to compete for who is the biggest loser.

You completely missed my point. My point wasn't that things are simple OR complicated. My point is that I don't understand this never-ending battle of "I have it the hardest!" Who cares? There is no prize for being the worst at dating.
