Definitely, the issue isn't new. There have always been shy guys. But men assuming that attractive women are taken and allowing that assumption to cause them to not even try is new to me, and is shocking in its absurdity.

But it wasnt the same volume of people you have now..the internets made it seem like they'res a lot more of everything when really it's just made the world smaller where we now instantly see and hear things from around the world..

If the hotty has weird religious quirks, it is best to hide these until she had suitable mates in her snare...going on line and listing her quirks will NARROW her hits, not increase them...most women know to hide the quirks until its too late..
I think most bros KNOW women on dating sites lie...and they expect this...im sure men lie as well...
If I asked people I know about old, they would roll their eyes and laugh at me...even the ones who have used it successfully have had to wade through a huge amount of crap to find the ONE or TWO gems...
I am separated and technically can date...maybe I will join one of these for sheets and grins...just to prove my point...hit on the hottest of the hot and see all the baggage come out if not already listed

It worked very well for me. I had no trouble attracting my type, or non-types. Even with my then separated/divorced with kids status.

I have to ditto Ohio P. What he stated was accurate for what I experienced. At the time I started using dating sites I was living in the Bible belt, and though I lived in an upscale, progressive area, it's still the South, and atheists/liberal + the South don't exactly mix. That plus other criteria meant online dating was the most thorough way for me to search for compatible "suitors." I didn't have trouble garnering attention offline, but it would have been unlikely or next to impossible to find an actual match in the settings I was in. I desired a specific type, and there's no shortage of this type online.
I'm making no judgements as everyone is open and free to find happiness wherever that may be. However, I always wondered why certain women who most would deem as attractive would purse online dating as a viable route to meet good, single men. I'd just assume going out and about doing their thing would be enough to meet people to the point that joining a dating site would never even cross their minds. Your opinion...

This is good advice for women, but not men. Women have a huge selection of men online. As long as they are not ridiculously picky, they will have tons of options and can easily have a boyfriend within a few days. In fact, I don't know why women don't exclusively date online. It's like a catalog for them.
Men, on the other hand, need to put in the leg work in real life and will likely not have success online.

Some men assume they're taken (as so many have confessed, here). Others are just plain shy. Still others assume attractive women are bytchez. Lots of excuses for not approaching, though basic shyness isn't really an excuse, it's an issue.
