Just go back and find something easy and inexpensive for him to "help" you with, like "Hi, is this the right charger for my cell phone?", and once he answers the question, just tell him you also wanted to thank him for his help with the computer purchase, flash him a big bright smile and hand him a card with your number written on it and say "call sometime". That should work perfectly, good luck.

I did it in the past. He called my house and was extremely flattered and shocked that I would ask him.

We went out a few times.
