I have a really good female friend who told me that if her (rich) boyfriend ever breaks up with her, she is coming to me. We knew each other for a long time, so I wouldn't mind it.

Until another rich guy comes along and she dumps you? Nice self esteem you have there.
So what's it like taking a backseat to a guy who's only quality that you've stated that beats you is the fact that he's rich and you're not?
Pretty sure I wouldn't date her, not of she said that to me.
Eh, I don't think much about it, but she's a really good friend and a fun person to hang out with. It's been that way ever since I met her and the idea of being the next in-line isn't that bad.

Honestly, I don't know how I would feel being someone's back up plan.

I dunno about being dumped, but from what I've seen she has the heart of gold, and I haven't yet figured out why that guy puts a ring on her, even if she does complain to me about him often.

I don't think you have very high self-esteem if you're OK with being someone's #2, unless it was in jokingly form.
Yes there is someone I wouldn't mind being this for.
