But seriously, I knew a guy who was 45 years old who was dating an 18 year old chick and he said that such a relationship is "nature's Viagra".
I don't think a guy who couldn't get it up for a 20, 30, or 40-something would all of sudden turn into an animal for a girl just out of high school. Her youth doesn't make him any younger.
"Men make estrogen from testosterone, and women do, too," Finkelstein said. So when men age and testosterone levels naturally decline, men also experience a drop in levels of estrogen circulating in their blood.
The new results suggest that when estrogen levels drop, men experience some of the same consequences that women do after menopause: They have more bone loss, their libido declines, and they gain more fat around their midsection.
true, in nature most humans are at the end of the life span by the 50 + age
humans were never intended to mate or have offspring at that age, even though some people still do in these modern days, thats not how nature intended it to be.
Thats why they have stuff like Viagra [artificial sexual enhancement drugs], it's natures way of telling the man he's past his sexual prime and should not be breeding / mating.
End of lifespan at 50+? How do you figure that? The average life expectancy for both sexes hovers around 80 today. And even that is a low-ball number.

You really want to stand by that generalization? I mean, it's no more useless and gender bating than any other such generalization, but I'm curious.

I think he's talking about the fact that most people died at around the 50-year mark, give or take 20 years, before modern medicine was invented. People still die between 40 and 60, even when they're in decent shape. But whether or not nature "intended" people to have kids into their 40's is debatable. Before birth control, people had kids every 2 years, pretty much. As soon as one child was weaned, another pregnancy occurred. This went on until about 12 kids had been born (over a roughly 25-year period, let's say, starting at around 18 or even 16), and the woman died of exhaustion. That would put women into the 40's, still having kids, as long as she could get pregnant. The only thing stopping the pregnancies was her death. There are women in developing countries who have had 15 kids. That puts them well into the 40's, still cranking 'em out.
So I thought I would ask the men here. Have you found women in their 30s to be "past their sexual prime"?
A lot of women I know seem to hit their sexual prime around their 30s. I think it has a lot to do with not caring about what other people think as much anymore and even if they don't particularly like how they look they've made peace with themselves.
However, the United States (and a lot of other places for that matter) tend to put a lot of emphasis on youth.
When it comes to guys and older women I think one of the major drawbacks, real or imagined, is they feel older women are going to:
- Be set in her ways.
- Come with more baggage.
- Lose what looks she has any day now.
I also think a lot of guys play the field, but always want the possibility to be part of a woman's life and grow with her, not just to fit in with a life she has already built. Probably an ego thing.
Are we talking libido or fitness for sexual reproduction?
Libido? Who knows. People don't like admitting that as they age, they just aren't as fit / agile / horny / fun / etc as they once were. So people will say "I've never been more whatever" at X age, and it's really just bluster in my opinion.
Fitness for sexual reproduction? I believe it's mid twenties but ill let any number of scientific studies speak to that.
