LOL, BAD move.

But, seriously, never underestimate the power of getting a "non-traditional gift". I have a dear friend who LOVES cooking. Her fiance (now husband) got her some cooking lessons as a Valentine's gift. Sure, she could have looked at it like "OMG, he HATES my cooking" or "he thinks I should cook more". But, she looked at it for what it was. This guy actually appreciating what she loves to do, and enabling her to expand her horizons with it.

I guess, sometimes, it's all about the presentation.

My wife wants one of those giant clothes dryers that have an area for you to hang dry clothes. She has lots of custom made costumes (bellydance and ballroom dance) from Egypt and Europe that need special care.

I may also get her one of those female bodybuilding thingys for the arms, bicepts and shoulders, its called a Dyson Vacum. Actually, she really wants either that dryer, a Dyson vacum or a new stainless dishwasher. Funny thing is these things cost more that what most wives want for Valentines day.
