I've been dating this girl for a few months now and the other day she took me to a halloween parade in her hometown. Honestly when i got there i felt so out of place surrounded by redneck people. People wearing camo everything and drinking beer in the streets at a halloween parade for kids? The neighborhood was nice though no cars up on blocks lol. Anyway she introduced me to some people she knew and they all were rednecks you can tell.

My point is i'm not a redneck and i'm not into hunting, fishing, muddin etc... She is not overly redneck or trashy but she has signs of that sort of lifestyle.

She is incredibly nice and sweet to me and we always have a great time but no sure if i fit with her lifestyle.

What does "signs of that sort of lifestyle" mean?

Her hometown is always going to be her hometown.

You dated her for few months, and it didn't appear to you that she is a "redneck" herself. So, that's not her style.
You don't need to fit with the rednecks lifestyle, or participate in the activities. She might want to leave all that behind too...

There is a difference in redneck and country.
One doesn't necessarily even have to be country to hunt, fish or go mudding and rednecks don't necessarily hunt, fish or go mudding. Now if a camo covered country person is mudding to get to their fishing spot while toting a gun, just in case, AND says hey hold my beer and watch this, then you have yourself a redneck.

I am surprised that her town allows alcohol at an event. Many small towns are dry.

So is there a question or....?

So what's the issue?

You like her.

The "redneck" stereotype just seems to be background noise here.

I think you need to talk openly about it with her. What she sees your relationship in the future? I think youre in some panic on the little things.

I wish you more tolerance towards people with a different lifestyle.

As long as you like her...you're fine. If things get more serious, on a scale from 1-10, how redneck is her family because you'll likely be exposed to them on holidays, etc.

There are a lot of rednecks in the town I grew up in. Lots of people who wear camo and go hunting and fishing. I'm not redneck in any way, but sure lots of people I know are even some people in my family! I'm glad my boyfriend didn't write me off as a backwards hillbilly when we met because of where I grow up and some of the people that I know.
