DH and I typically keep the budget to $100-$150 each. But this year he is in need of a new computer, and wants one that is fairly high end. So he will get that, and that will pretty much take care of both of us for Christmas. He did buy a few things for me (I don't know details), and I am getting us tickets to a stand up comic we both love.
Neither of us needs more "stuff" so each of us will choose a wish list for a needy child and go shopping for his/her wish/wishes. Shopping will be fun.
I am doing this. There is a tree in the campground clubhouse with names of children with their info. It will be lots of fun to shop for a child who really needs things.
My DH and I don't buy gifts for each other. We buy what we want throughout the year. My 50th birthday was in October and he said his gift to me is any piece of jewelry I want. I'm pretty picky so I am still looking. We are on the road rving now and by the time we finish we'll have been away from home for 5 months. I think that will be our gift, lol.
I'm going to go back through this thread and try to get some ideas. I got him a few things I know he will like (some documentaries on DVD and some tee shirts with funny saying related to his hobbies), but I have yet to get something really personal and cool. The problem is he has everything.
He's big into guns, so perhaps I can get him something good (last year I got him magazines he really wanted). The problem is last year I knew he wanted those and which ones he wanted. This year we haven't been to a gun show for me to take note and I, personally, don't know guns well enough to improvise.

Don't improvise…there are way too many guns and accessories out there.

If you have a shooting range near you, we do, a gift certificate might be something he would enjoy. Ours sells guns and you can test drive them before you buy.
One year when the teenage grandkids were visiting, I got them gift certificates there and all the men and kids in the family had a fun afternoon target shooting.
We are very budget conscious so we try to keep it to $100. or so, and make it something the person wouldn't buy himself. This year DH saw a DNA test on an Ancestry commercial, and thought it was interesting. So I got him that, and also a replacement for his well used travel toiletries kit, from LL Bean. I'm always vigilant for good ideas for a present for him.
As for me, DH is usually clueless and asks me the week before Christmas, what I want. What I want is for him to be observant and figure it out for himself.
So, I told my husband we should just get tickets to a nice sounding Holiday affair at a local hotel...an orchestra performance, plus dinner, as my present. He likes the idea of going to it, but not as my present, because it's not something I could open on Christmas. Back to the drawing board.
