what if i said "hey what day works next week for dinner?
That original one would only work if you were the Fonz. The second one still comes across as a demand or presumption. "Would you care to join me for _______ on (name the day/evening)?" is much more polite and gentlemanly. Manners count!
Instead of "Would you like to grab coffee with me Wednesday?"
Say "Lets do coffee at 3 at the Starbucks on 20th." try to make it within a conversation or string of texts that she is engaged in. If she can't make it she'll change the date or offer a different activity.
I recently changed over to that and have got a lot better results. Usually the dates go better to since you know they're excited to see you too instead of just going to be polite.
Ask her out politely, don't be presumptuous or bark orders, sheesh. Give her 3 days advance notice and let her know where you are taking her, so she knows what to wear. Again... be polite. Good luck!
