Personally I hate it when people play games of cues and subtle meanings. If you want to say something, just say it out straight. But that is just me.

I would rather a guy do it straightforwardly. Ask me out with a specific activity in mind for a specific day, and ask at least two days in advance. I've never been asked out "cleverly," so I can't even imagine what you mean.

If she declines then at least you know both of you stand. Plus even if she declines first time round doesn't mean it's necessarily game over. Another place:another time, might just work
