I'm sure some women won't agree with me, but if a strange man tells me that I'm hot, it's not always a compliment. It can feel almost threatening, because there's a sexual connotation to that word. I don't know that guy, and that makes me feel vulnerable.
In Arizona, my friend's mom took my washed clothes outside to dry on the clothesline. By the time the third one was clipped up, the first one was dry and ready to take inside.
I hand wash my clothes and they dry within 30 minutes
Smart, clever, funny, sympathetic, warm, loving, practical, good with whatever the topic is: kids, pets, people, money, numbers...... My kids, dogs, ducks, horses, parrots are well well behaved so I must be a good mother....
Those are compliments. "Hot" means I am seen as a sex object. "Beautiful" really has nothing to do with me; it's just genetics which is not any sort of accomplishment.
What is a good compliment is anything that says the person giving the compliment has really looked at me and knows who I am and knows more than just what I look like.
Although a few casual socially nice compliments are OK, like what a pretty necklace, or your hair looks good, or I love the painting that you just did.
I prefer beautiful, although both can be flattering. 'Hot' feels more lusty, being desired sexually. I think an unattractive woman with a nice body or revealing cleavage can be called hot. Beautiful feels more special to me as it (imo) can refer to a woman's facial features like her eyes, smile, skin, lips etc.
