I was married for 5 years. We got divorced 2 years ago with minimal contact thereafter. I thought I moved on from this relationship and didn't think too much about my ex since we split. Now, out of the blue, she texted me to inform me about her moving out of state. For unexplainable reasons I feel very emotional about it. It triggered sadness, good memories and regret. I didn't think I was still so attached to her, and even started missing her after all these years.
I think that's normal and very sweet. There are reasons why everything happens. The two of you split up because at least one of you felt that was the justified route to take. At the same time, there was something that brought you two together in the first place, and it's okay to feel a sense of grief and loss about that.
chasing the past will not bring about the future, i have experienced a thing like what you described, OP and I learned a hard lesson in letting go.
take one day at a time, its all you can do i wish you well.
motion carried. let her go and forget about her. the longer she stays out of your life the better for you.
as for why you are feeling the way you are, its because as long as she was close by, you always had the thought in the back of your mind that you two could possibly get back together. oh you might not agree with my assessment, but it is a fact, it is also a fantasy that a lot of people have after a break up.
at some point you have to let her go and move on with your life.

Have you ever experienced something like that?
Is anyone else a little curious as to why she felt the need to announce she is leaving? If there is little to no contact, and both parties have seemingly moved on, why say anything?

if there are no kids involved, it IS weird she would announce it...
Reminiscing about good times past is not unusual, and her text jogged those memories in you. It's not that your "still attached" to her as much as you remembering the good things when you were with her.
Oh please, please....please.....let me utter the same words as the OP.
"My ex is moving out of state."
