True, I've seen quite a few women say "I'm not going to send messages, it's not the woman's job" or something like that. I would be kind of wondering why she'd be saying this, because chances are she's not having that problem with a full inbox.
60/40 on the majority of sites, or there abouts, male to female. Several sites publish their data, and there are third party analysis.
Not sure why it matters though. Most people are just looking for one.
Environment that is more competitive for men. I am also willing to bet that of that 40% of women there is a bigger proportion of "plus size" individuals than there are within men's population.

Again, what does it matter? It's a one to one connection most people are seeking. You're dealing with individuals, one at a time, not populations in the aggregate.
I mean seriously, are there dudes out there thinking "I need to outcompete my competition" to "win the woman" or something? I pity those fools, if they exist. They really don't get it.
