Disagree. I think people do make mistakes but are not necessarily doomed to repeat them. I would not be with the person any more if they cheated on me, but I would have to examine the circumstances if they had cheated on someone else in the far-flung past and was sorry.
What if one cheated on a BF/GF when quite young, repented/regretted it, and learned not to do it?
Or would you still disqualify them from the dating/marriage pool?
my opinion is, there are always some one time offenses, but for the most part, I'd have to agree, once a cheater always a cheater....
and yes, if someone cheated when they were young and realized all the pain and grief they have caused everyone, then yes....I don't believe they'd ever do it again.
I was cheated on once, so I typically take the opinion that all cheaters will remain that way. In actuality, though, a lot of them do reform. I just wouldn't date someone who would admit to having cheated in the past.
It depends on why the person cheated. Is it in their nature or was their partner pushing them away. Let's face it, there's a lot of temptation out there, but if you have something awesome to come home to and still do it, you have a problem. I'm not saying that when there's trouble at home, it's OK to go out, but often times people take their mates for granted and make them the brunt of all their anger, frustration, stress, etc... constantly and then shocked when they cheat on them.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
