I had several men tell me yesterday that they secretly resented Valentines Day.
That it was just invented by the card companies to make money, and that they hated it because it made them HAVE to get something...or they'd be in trouble.
One even told my co-worker that Valentines Day was a woman's holiday. Does anyone else agree?
So I wonder, do the men of CD feel along these same lines too?
I'm a woman and I agree with your friend. It's just another commercialized, made up holiday, much like Christmas, Easter, and Halloween, to force you to spend money. You don't need a man-made, mandated holiday to buy someone something or take them to a nice dinner, or show them some romance or that you care for them. This can be done any day of the year.
There is a steak and blow-job day. I just can't remember when it is. Will find out and let you know. Anyone who has read the SPQ's books, will remember it from there.
But he just brought home a stove top duo espresso machine he bought before xmas for today...lol
He made you wait that long?
That's the issue with V-day....very sweet thought & gesture, but why not give it in the moment of feeling instead.
There's just nothing "heartfelt" about valentine's day....
I like that the general expectations for men are held on annual dates that are written on calendars.
Do you ever see a "Who Cleaned The Bathroom This Morning After You Didn't Wash Out The Sink When Shaving" day? I sure as hell don't. Or "Who Cooked Dinner Tonight?" day. "Who Did Laundry", that's my personal favorite.
Seriously, our cultural expectations for men are on prearranged dates printed on calendars, and they still don't like them.
