I think it must be an age thing but I think its weird when the other guy assumes hes going to sit up front when I'm driving, thats my wifes spot if shes not driving. I see it a lot but mostly younger guys or the lower class bar crowd around here. When I'm out with just another guy Its only natural but when my wifes with me a little courtesy would be nice. What do you think or is it no big deal to you? Would your serious other say something if you didn't?

Yep, this is definitely a senior citizen thing...not going there myself for years yet!! My place is right next to my guy
I see quite a few vehicles with the guys up front around here and I can only assume its the guys going out and dragging the wives or girlfriends along.

Maybe its a macho thing or a redneck thing.
Maybe you just live in a more "traditional" area where younger people are just doing what they see their parents do? Seems a bit odd to me, for young couples

I always assume the guys want to talk side by side and hopefully not have to listen to the gals yammering front to back. But you probably want to grope your wife occasionally...right?

well you know, we wives LIVE to be "groped" in front of our friends by our men
I don't think it's a right or wrong way. It depends on what the hosts (the owner(s) of the car) want to do, and it should be optional, that is, the man has the right to decline and sit in the back with his wife.
But like some said, the women or even the guys may want to talk and it's easier to do if they are side by side.
