Let me make is simple. I'm active in politics, my focus is not the women's movement, but it affects me. I side with one faction against the other. The opposing faction is using the fact that my wife does not live up to my own idea of a New Woman, to attack me.

You could start by being a bit less harsh on your wife. Accept her for who she is, love her, and support her. Who the hell really cares what some political group says about your personal relationships?

You have approached it all wrong by trying to make her into something she is not.

Isn't "Women's Liberation" supposed to be about freedom? Hence the term "Liberation"? How about the freedom to choose the traditional role, if you two so desire it?

I don't agree with the concept of feminism as simply a question of personal choice. The opening of more options to women, is simply one of the side-effects of feminism. To the extent that feminism is individualistic, I prefer to not use the term feminism but women's liberation.

My main disagreement with certain brands of radical feminism is that they attempt to separate themselves from the overall political situation. I myself am not mainly focused on women's issues, and so my political influence is directly affected by attempts to draw women out of broader politics into narrow identity politics. Despite the personal attacks the radical feminists have made on me and my wife, and my sharp disagreements with them I would still prefer them over liberal or libertarian feminists.

Your posts seem to be rather stream-of-consciousness a la Hunter Thompson, none of your posts seem to make much sense.
Why in the world would you let someone verbally assault your spouse in public?
Without being vulgar. I think it is pretty clear that women's lingerie in today's society is meant to turn women into mere playthings for me. And by not being more vigilant with my own wife, it is a fair criticism to say I have been somewhat negligent in combating chauvinism.

I didn't let anyone attack my wife. But to hide her away would look even worse.

Seriously? You sure you dont have issues with your own sexuality?

I admit that it is mostly my fault. I didn't put enough time into making her a New Woman, I suppose I just thought my New Values would just rub off on her naturally.

What "New Values'? WTF is a "New Woman"?

Its not about a man dominating a woman. Its about more advanced ideas correcting backward habits.

She has to be dragged into the 21st century.
That last bit is the most asinine thing I have read in weeks

Most of the issues associated with women's roles and fashion, are really power relations.

I was floating here to see how this all went down, but honestly, my face is rather red from trying to extrapolate reason out of political blah blah.

Hit the politics thread, maybe someone there will toss ya a bone.

Well it is true that the problem arose out of my involvement in politics. But I think the core issue here is my personal relationship with my wife. Although as they say the personal is political.
