I've decided to go back to school part-time and pusue a graduate degree. I'm 25, and my employer is going to pay for it all. Part of the reasing for going back so soon is, my life revolves around my job and I don't have a lot of opportunities to meet people.

Do you think grad school would be a good place to meet woman?

Does anyone have any tips or thoughts surrounding this?

I had the opposite situation (but same problem for me, as a woman) in my graduate program... I went to school for library & information science, and the majority of my classmates were women, gay men or men over 50. How many young, straight male librarians do you encounter, especially in the Bay Area? Not that I didn't enjoy their company, but it wasn't exactly a great place to meet dates! My friend who got a master's in nursing also had that problem, so I guess it just depends on what you're going to study.

Is it a field that's dominated by a certain gender, or one that appeals to both sexes equally? Either way, you should join some student organizations once you start... maybe the associated student's union, planning committees, religious group, theater productions, etc. Whatever floats your boat! Every school is different in how they separate grad from undergrad activities, but most have groups everyone can join. I didn't participate in much during my 2 years of grad school, since I took about 3/4 of the classes online - but in college I was a member of Hillel (Jewish Student's Org), and played with the school orchestra. I didn't end up dating anyone from those groups, but did meet a few nice candidates.

MBA programs, especially executive MBA programs, are filled with lots of men (and more than a few women) who work full time jobs and often have a family. They are stretched very thin, time wise. If you're a guy I would think it's a pretty bad place to try to meet an eligible woman interested in dating/relationship -- the number of eligible targets will be low. What's more, these are likely to be hard-charging, Type A folks who are going to be looking to "marry up." So even if you found an eligible woman you'd better have an awfully good game going.

EH..it's a toss up. When I was in grad school a lot of us were good friends, collegues etc...but we also had our own thing going on after class. It wasn't a typical undergrad experience where everyone lives on campus and is looking to actually socialize outside of acadamia..
