What I can't figure out is how you could keep it at that short length. Once it started looking like a real beard it seems like you'd have to shave it off and then it would take several days to get that stubble appearance again. My beard is as white as the driven snow so that stubble look wouldn't work for me anyway. Besides, I agree that it's just another dumb fashion trend.
Look at most of the electric hair and beard clippers being sold now. They all seem to have a stubble guide or setting on them. Go figure!
I'm like you. White beard so you'd have to get up really close to detect stubble. Why bother?

I've never minded a full beard so much, although it does take some getting used to at first. Full beards are soooo much softer than that rough icky stubble. Meh...maybe I'm just getting old. NOT!
