Gentlemen do but it isn't automatic. The rest are just trying to get laid.
Women prefer the compliments from the guys who want to get laid.
Uh, no. Did you read this in Maxim? Women like compliments from the few gentlemen who are out there, not the jerks who say things just because they are trying to get some.
I must totally suck at giving compliments because most of the time they're met with disbelief. As a result I rarely give women any kind of compliment other than giving her some of my time.
It depends on how you word the compliment. Now, I'm not saying you do this (and I certainly hope you don't!) but saying something like "Gee, you have a nice rack" is not something most women would appreciate or would consider a compliment.
I went on date with some guy i met online and he literally complimented me from head to toe, " your hair's so nice, can i touch it" " you look even more beautiful in person"( he saw my picture before met) " you have good body shape" blah blah blah. he said it in a very natural and pleasent way. he himself was a very attractive guy. it was the first date and guess what? he never called back
so i guess guys will say those things anyway even he's not slightly attracted to the woman?
Well, then.............I would have to say "Pics or it didn't happen"

It might not be you. It may be them. I have a hard time accepting compliments because I rarely get them and when I do, I don't believe them. I have always seen myself as ugly. When my ex told me I was beautiful, it was not easy to overcome the years of feeling ugly and accept the compliment.
Of course, he's my ex so for all I know he's full of **** and was totally lying to me. LOL

Good point, and I've always had a difficult time as well taking compliments from men. This may also come from my thinking that I see myself as maybe ugly-and hearing my mothers words like "God, you're so hideous" blah blah blah. Anyway, many women are insecure with their looks. But now if someone compliments me, I just say "thank you" and leave it at that, even if I still don't believe it.
Player that did not get to play so he moved to the next one? I never trust anyone that is TOO over the top with that crap. They usually are trying to get something out of it fast as possible.

That's what I try to do as well. I think I'm getting better at it.

I'm not quite that socially inept I'll usually say something like: "I think you look beautiful today." And I'll get an eye roll in response

That's a problem with them, then!
