OK ladies (& gents) I know that this can be a doozy in a lot of relationships. But here's one, OK so how does one's eating habits affect your relationship? For instance, I tend to be a salad & water kinda gal & I eat my food in small portions. I've been out on dates w/ guys & they will sometimes make comments like "You're not eating all of your food. Why not?" & I usually take a doggie bag home.

Does this bother guys if a girl doesn't eat all her food in a restaurant. I think this stems from the way my father treated my mother about her weight & weight gain (my mom kind of let herself go, but then my father who owned a business decidedly told her that he would leave if she didn't straighten out. However, she's always been a big woman) Then I dated 1 guy who told me not to gain a lot of weight, or else.

So what do you think? How often does one's weight &/or eating habits affect relationships?

I did a thread similar to this a while back. It isn't what you take home, it is what you throw out just because you can. I burn a lot of calories at work and have a muscular build so I eat massive portions. I can't expect a woman to do the same. Many men can't eat as much as my old man and I can. You won't get any complaints from me for wanting to eat. I LOVE short curvy women with long hair!

You lucky dog! I don't constantly deprive myself by any means, but I've never eaten as much as I'd like in my entire life! As soon as my foot has been on the pedal it has to go on the brake... I don't eat salads and drink water and pretend to eat like a bird if I go out, though. There are plenty of other times for that - namely during the day at work. If somebody else is going to cook for me, it better be something good!

Sometimes I think my wife is try to sabatoge me, I have high cholesterol and have been try to lose weight (10lbs so far). Sweets & junk food in the house are a dangerouse thing for me, I'll make a beeline for them nearly everytime. However if they're not present I don't have the urge to run out and by any, but just when I begin to break the cycle she brings them back into the house.
Today she pointed out a coupon for the M&M pretzel and I remarked by reminding her that I have a cholesterol problem.

It affects relationships in a variety of ways.

I am NOT a salad and water girl. I'll never understand the point of going out to eat with someone only to leave your plate full out of a fear of rejection. If he expects me to nibble because he's afraid I'm going to get fat, he had better move on to the next gal.

I don't want to be with anyone who is obese, but I don't mind a little extra padding. I love to feed my loved ones, so eating an entire plate of food is a compliment. He'll know when it gets to be too much and has to watch his weight.

I think it bugs men when they take a woman to dinner and she orders something fancy and then doesn't eat it. If you only order a salad, okay ... at least you didn't order the lobster and then pick at it.

I feel for you. It is very hard to lose weight and improve your health when the other person is not doing the same and is not supportive. It sucks when I'm with a guy who doesn't care what he eats and tries to make me feel guilty for not being able to go out to eat all the time.

Another thing, just because someone's eating a salad doesn't mean it's healthy! LOL
