Anyone besides me find it strange that this god who created the universe was totally unknown to humans living outside of the middle east for thousands of years?

For example,
  • the god of Abraham was totally unknown in China until 600 years after the death of Christ despite that fact that modern humans inhabited what we today call China for tens of thousands of years.
  • no one on the American continents north or south heard of this god for more than 12,000 years after they'd traveled there.

One would think, as a result, that the god of Abraham would have been a little more familiar to folks around the globe despite their isolation, after all they're ancestors stepped off the same boat after the flood. Surely someone would have remembered the god who caused it.

I suppose that could be a plausible answer. Of course neither were there ships and guns to spread the word, so to speak, since the knowledge of Abraham's god was only made known at the business end of a saber or a musket. You would think that such an omnipotent god would have had a kinder and friendlier way of making himself known.
