What constitutes lust? I was jogging and I saw a good looking guy with a nice body. I took particular notice of his well developed legs. He spoke to me and I responded appropriately. After the whole thing was over I wondered if that was lusting. I told myself it was nothing more than window shopping with no money in your pocket. "U know u aint going to buy nothing". (I realize that is not the best English, but I am just trying to make a point?) I am curious as to what others think lust is?

It is human nature to "lust" after the opposite sex. It is a feeling brought about by chemicals in the brain that signal for us to seek a partner. After all, the most obvious point of our existence is procreation. As for the developed legs.. well that is probably society's focus on what is deemed to be attractive and what isn't.

No, you were not lusting. You were admiring his well-developed legs. Lusting in an intense, obsessive, and overwhelming desire. From what you wrote, I do not see lust there.

I agree with KewGee, that what consistutes lust is desire. Lust isn't limited to sexual desire, of course - there's the lust for war.

That's not true. I think inherently humans are attracted to certain body shapes, tight muscles, etc. on both men and/or women (whichever is your poison). It has nothing to do with what society has told us we should like. It's ingrained in our brain's chemistry, and everyone is a little bit different (but there are common characteristics of what humans find attractive).

Just like looking at a fabulous sports car. The sleek lines, powerful curves, and low style might be very attractive, and just admiring these things is not lust. However, picturing yourself in it driving 120 down the highway swerving through traffic with the top down, now that's lust! If you were doing that sun queen, shame on you.

Do you think he was "lusting" back?

IMO only you know if you were lusting. Lust comes from the spiritual heart. You could look at any part of a person's body and lust. It's a "spiritual heart" attitude. I believe that every person knows when they find another person attractive enough to lust...be it physical or emotional attraction.

Lust is like pornography--it's hard to define, but you know it when you see it.
